The facts

- How it holds: Zonit's Z-Lock Plus. At the PDU a low-profile locking nut, tightened after the plug is seated, clamps the plug in any standard C13 or C19 outlet. At the equipment a spring latch inside the connector grips any standard C14 or C20 inlet. A seating line on the connector shell shows it is home; two coloured ID rings per end. Three names, one cord
Zonit's product name is Z-Lock Plus. The connector housings are marked Z-Lock+. ZLP is the abbreviation on our part numbers, quotes and packing lists. If a PDU manual, a spec sheet or a quote says any of the three, this is the cord.
What it is
Z-Lock+ locks at both ends and needs nothing special on either side. At the PDU, a low-profile locking nut on the plug is tightened after the plug is seated and clamps it in any standard C13 or C19 outlet. At the equipment, a spring latch inside the connector grips any standard C14 or C20 inlet, and a seating line on the connector shell shows when it is fully home. Two coloured ID rings on each end name the feed or the rack. That answers the question the latch-slot mechanisms cannot: a rack whose PDUs have plain outlets and whose equipment must still not come unplugged. It is the redesign that succeeds the original Z-Lock, and both lock into the same hardware, so a rack can carry the two side by side while the old stock runs out. Zonit publishes no retention figure for it and neither do we.
What it fits
Any standard IEC 60320 outlet and inlet, on any PDU or equipment. On a P-Lock-ready PDU or a V-Lock outlet the plug still seats and the nut still clamps the outlet body; check the fit before a volume order, because those outlets were shaped for P-Lock and V-Lock and the finder will say so.
The families
- C14 to C13: the rack workhorse. 14 AWG SJT at 15 A; 17 and 18 AWG builds for low-draw equipment.
- C14 to C15: for high-temperature inlets, 14 AWG at 15 A.
- C20 to C19: 20 A on 12 AWG for high-current PDU and server feeds.
- C20 to C21: 20 A for high-temperature, high-current inlets.
- Mixed pairs (C20 to C13, C20 to C15, C14 to C19) where the outlet and the inlet differ.
Release
At the PDU, back the locking nut off as far as it goes and pull the plug. At the equipment, slide the connector shell back and pull; the shell is the release, so it is a one-hand motion.
When to choose something else
- P-Lock-ready PDUs and both ends must lock: Dual-Lock holds by the outlet's latch slots rather than by clamping the outlet body.
- APC AP8000 or Panduit G5: V-Lock.
- Only the equipment end: A-Lock or S-Lock.
