About A-Lock power cords (universal locking connector)
The universal IEC 60320 locking connector
The A-Lock is commonly known as the universal locking connector because it was the first of its kind to offer a universal fit locking connector for the IEC 60320 series. It functions by internally pinching the metal pins of the inlet when the connector is mated to the equipment. The easy-to-use design only requires the user to pinch the red tabs while disconnecting the cable to disengage the locking mechanism.
What IEC 60320 connectors are available with the A-Lock technology?
The A-Lock design is manufactured with the three most used connector types for IT equipment. These are the C13, C15 and C19 Power Connectors. The connectors have the same voltage and amperage ratings as the standard “non-locking” connectors and will function the same electrically. The additional functionality is useful when connecting a computer or a device that you notice has a loose connection or is constantly unplugging.

The IEC 60320 C19 Locking Connector is rated for 20 Amps and 250VAC. It is a grounded connector type, with the A-Lock feature for latching the connector in place once it is mated. The A-Lock is a universal locking mechanism that internally pinches the pins of the male/inlet that it connects with. This effectively holds the connector in place until the user pinches and pulls back the two red tabs located on either side of the connector body.

The IEC 60320 C20 is a grounded 3 Wire Plug rated up to 250V and 20 Amps. The C20 mates with a C19 outlet, typically found on Data Center/IT specific PDUs (Power Distribution Unit). The most common configuration for a C20 is in a jumper cable scenario, providing power from a PDU to a blade server chassis, high powered server, large network router, or similar device.

The NEMA 5-15P is a 3 Wire grounded plug featuring two blades (can be equal or unequal widths due to the ground pin forcing polarity) and one ground pin rated up to 125V AC and 15 Amps. The NEMA 5-15P is your standard household plug used for to connect small appliances such as TV's, Microwaves, hairdryers, etc to a wall outlet. The NEMA 5-15P is compatible with a Nema 5-20R T-Slot outlet, which is commonly found in new home installations.

About A-Lock power cords (universal locking connector)
How it holds: the connector pinches the equipment inlet's metal pins from inside when mated. The plug end is a standard, non-locking plug.
What it fits: any standard IEC 60320 inlet, the first universal locking connector, no special PDU or inlet needed. Same voltage and amperage ratings as the non-locking connector.
How to release: pinch the red tabs on either side of the connector head while pulling.
Available on the C13, C15 and C19 connectors, with NEMA, IEC and international plugs.
